Japanese animation is now at a turning point, mainly in the West, because of the meteoric consumption on streaming platforms. One of them, Netflix, enjoys continued popularity and a catalog that is constantly enriched with new offers while offering timeless classics. Spotlight on its japanimation offer with a selection of 5 cult animes available on the platform.

Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop was a huge commercial success in Japan and around the world. Often considered the best Japanese animated series , the title is still today a safe bet and difficult to match.

In 2071, the crew of the Bebop spacecraft travel the solar system in search of bounties. In the slang of the time, these bounty hunters were called "cowboys".

Cowboy Bebop is a unique cultural combination in a universe of Space opera . The personality of the anime imprints on America of the 40s and 50s thanks to the breathtaking Jazz soundtrackfor example or thanks to the homage to Films Noirs; martial arts (Practice of Jeet Kune Do by Bruce Lee ); to spaghetti westerns ; or even gun fights movies! Each episode brings a perfectly mastered story and allows for in- depth development of each character and theme . The rather atypical band of mercenaries, allows a better proximity and a greater distance as for the perception of their feelings or their confidence. Spike spiegel, with the aspect of hipster, is an emblematic and charismatic character who knew how to mark the spirits. The quality of the animation is such that it remains today a real reference in this universe.

Ultimately, the anime is a UFO building a bridge between East and West through its influences and offers us an explosive, mature show with artistic excellence. You should absolutely not miss this flagship work!

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Written and directed by Hideaki Anno , this monument of Japanese animation has not finished talking about it.

Fifteen years ago, humanity overcame a dramatic event referred to as the “Second Impact” but mysterious giant creatures, the Angels, appear fifteen years later and attempt to destroy Tokyo-3, the new capital-fortress of Japan. . Ikari Shinji, a teenager of 14, will have to board an "EVA" and fight these Angels in spite of himself.

The story of this anime was designed for the otakus of Japanese society in the late 90s. Frustration and the main characters are their representatives. The goal was to show the perverse side of this industry and the excess of the public but by a sad irony of fate, he exploded all the records in his path, a bit like the Angels came to destroy humanity. On the character side, Shinji is the anti-hero par excellence. A character anchored in his fiction who must manage to find reality. He is by definition weak, introverted and frustrated. The other characters are other facets of this perversion. Many themes are discussed such as the transition to adolescence or the father / son relationship. Biblical and military references are endless.

Neon Genesis Evangelion knew how to beahead of its time and boned the codes of Japanese animation. He knew how to tackle deep social problems. A classic not to be missed!

Samurai Champloo
The decor of the series focuses on the land of the rising sun and samurai who smell like sunflowers! Samurai Champloo is the second series directed by Shinichiro Watanabe .

The story takes place in a fictional version of the Edo era in Japan. A young girl named Fuu, searches for a samurai who smells of sunflowers and is accompanied by two individuals, Mugen, an extravagant wanderer, and Jin an impassive samurai.

A universe mixing hip-hop and medieval Japanese times , Samurai Champloo is an explosive cocktail. Watanabe takes an incisive look at the end of an era and the globalization of a country whose values waver and whose administration is blinded by corruption and order . He also speaks of these local lords, of the relationship of Japan to foreigners; of the man / woman bond which is drowning in mutual respect and destruction. The battle scenes and the action passages are virtuoso and original. The anime owes its richness in particular to its graphic universe, its dynamic editing and the immediate charisma of its three protagonists . The late Nujabes as  well asShing02 and Fat Jon are the centerpieces of the anime's soundtrack.

Finally, Samurai Champloo is a representation of what the Japan of the samurai could be like, a cruel period without falling into caricature. While keeping this jovial aspect through the fights, the music and the daredevil behavior of the protagonists!

Devilman Crybaby
Devilman Crybaby is a surprise. Based on the legendary Go Nagai manga, Devilman Crybaby is a Netflix original series. Taking up the basics of the manga, the director Maasaki will breathe new life into it and give a slightly ambiguous vision of the character of Go Nagaï.

The young Akira Fudo is informed by his friend Ryô, that the ancient race of demons has returned to take possession of humanity. At an assembly, he merges with Amon, the Lord of Demons. Akira transforms into Devilman, a human possessing the powers of a demon while retaining his own heart and soul.

This anime focuses on vices, deviations and impulsiveness . They want to show us here the purest and most "dirty" aspect of the human being. The very evidence of human nature. This unhealthy madness is fully justified by the themes of Devilman : by exacerbating man's faults, it offers him a pessimistic look. Man contributes to his own destruction . Akira is the symbol of sacrifice for Men in a Christic quest. The path to redemption does exist, however. A virtue emerges through its vices: empathy.

We can then ask ourselves if we act mainly out of impulsivity or out of reason. If a person capable of so much evil can hide a hint of love in his heart. Finally, we have a short anime ( 10 episodes ) addressing themes on the vices of the present and also those existing since the dawn of time . The anime has a soundtrack that echoes these themes and makes us go through very powerful emotions. An unmissable!

Carole & Tuesday
Carole & Tuesday is one of those animes where one does not necessarily expect a resounding success but which nevertheless offersan in-depth diversity and a refreshwithin the japanimation. In the realization, the famous Shinichiro Watanabe!

In the near future, on Mars, music and culture are produced by artificial intelligences. It is the story of a meeting between two young girls passionate about music, who want to become true accomplished musicians.

With a lot of humor, we follow their rise with the help of a fallen producer, Gus Goldman. The choice of two young teenage girls is quite interesting. Indeed, we can discern the naivety and maturity of these two characters. Obviously, one shows more sensitivity and seems more fragile while the other, on the contrary, seems to be more enterprising and sure of herself. The theme of this anime, obviously, is the music in its entirety. Whether it's the process from the creation to the release of an album or whether it's this journey through different musical styles (Rap, Pop, Funk, etc). But that's not the only topic covered in this story. We are offered a reflection on freedom of expression, immigration, deregulated capitalism as well as the adaptability that one must have during a musical career.

In short, the music is sparkling and varied in its entirety. There is something for every taste ! The storytelling is simple and effective with deep themes that can make us question our current lifestyle.

#2 Présentation » review of the first 4 volumes of Versailles of the dead: it started so » 2021-09-28 16:24:13

A new creative wave has recently seized the figure of the zombie. Zack Snyder offered us a Las Vegas that has become the territory of choice for a hierarchical zombie society. The Koreans with the Kingdom series or Netflix with the Revolution have taken the undead out of the horror film register to integrate it into the historical fresco. The mangaka Kumiko Suekane, known for the astonishing series Afterschool Charisma , takes up this theme in turn. With its design so refined, his love of the universe shifted, she signed Versailles of the Dead , ambitious story at the intersection of Lady Oscar, of the Revolution (the series) and the Brotherhood of the Wolf. An atypical work with immense potential but which is lost in the threads of a sometimes confused weft and poorly managing its rhythm.

When zombies come to the table of history
1770, the young Austrian princess Marie Antoinette wins France to join the Dauphin Louis, heir to the throne of France. At his side travels in secret his twin brother who serves when the need arises as a double of the queen. But his convoy approaches a country ravaged by an unknown evil which gives life to the living dead. They attack the royal carriage in the countryside. The escort is massacred, the young princess devoured. Only his brother seems to have survived even though he is unable to explain how.

Returning to the court of Versailles, he decides to pass himself off as his sister and play the role of the future queen of France. If the deception is quickly discovered, the dolphin puts up with it, preferring illusion to truth. Because the threat of the living dead is growing and behind the scenes forces are agitated: some fighting against the plague others using it. The king himself pursues a mysterious quest meant to eradicate zombies. What he does not know is that the twin brother did not come back completely unscathed from the attack and that he carries within him the scars of a demonic force.

Versailles of the dead : Du beau et du gore
The first four volumes set up a fascinating atmosphere that never loses intensity. Indeed Kumiko Suekane is based on a brilliant artistic idea: the shift. On the one hand, she produces extremely refined, luminous, realistic drawings. The faces give off a lot of softness, sensuality. The decorations express both the immensity of the palaces, the wealth of the king and the diversity of the kingdom. Particular attention has also been paid to textures: wall, objects. The historical reality is not neglected either. The reader will cross the famous necklace of the queen, will remember the love of the king's doors or recognize the individual weapons of the time. It is thus very easy for the reader to be caught up in the intrigue which is inscribed as a worthy heir to that of Lady Oscar .

And on the other hand, the mangaka gives us a story of zombies without restraint. The gore is indeed very present. The tomes strike a fine balance between horror and suggestion. There are no free or too long scenes. The attacks are quick, the corpses pile up with the right amount of close-ups. Blood, entrails, dot the pages but never ad nauseam. And as the line remains as beautiful as ever, we are immersed as in Le Pacte des Loups in a baroque tale: a sublime monstrosity.

A fascinating bias, a fading plot
Kumiko Suekane likes to take risks. Not content with integrating zombies into the history of France, she takes the opportunity to revisit through the character of the brother, the figure of the knight of Éon. It takes up the basic idea of the Lady Oscar series by reversing the postulate. Here, it is no longer a woman dressed up as a man but the opposite. She then cleverly treats the figure of the transvestite brother and all that it triggers: homosexual attraction, paternity. While building around a universe where we meet historical figures: Napoleon, Cagliostro, Louis XV, the favorites… Figures with which she plays: the future Napoleon is totally different from the model, the dolphin is much more inclined than his model. The historical reality is twisted in favor of a double pleasurable plot: the fight against the living dead,

However, from volume 3, the dynamic runs out of steam, the subject loses its effectiveness. On the one hand, it seems that the overall structure suffers from a very (too much?) Large number of secondary characters whose motivations are difficult to understand. It is often necessary to reread old passages several times to get a more or less clear idea of the forces involved. And as the plot goes fast, the action is omnipresent, we often get lost between these protagonists who all have a crucial role. The author's narrative ambition also explains this confusion, this exhaustion of the narration. She does indeed have a lot to say. A third plot (worthy of the best esoteric novels) invites itself besides to the existing ones, even more explosive, deserving of important developments. However, each volume struggles to clarify the issues,

Versailles of the dead  : a furious desire to continue
However, it is not the least of the paradoxes to note the immense capital of sympathy that this series retains after four volumes. Despite the important reservations related to the narrative, it remains obvious that the urge to know the end remains intact. How to explain this contradiction? The first explanation follows from the author's sense of suspense. Each manga ending frustrates us enormously by leaving us both hungry and suggesting a revelation to come. The reader remains convinced that the managaka has perfectly calculated his stroke that the end will justify all the script shadows.

The second reason relates to the characters. Whether it is the fake Marie-Antoinette, the king, the bodyguards, we are very attached to their destiny. Everything is confusing, assumed. The evolution of the false queen places us in front of an uncertainty: is she a victim, an executioner, a puppet? At the end of the penultimate volume, nothing is played, everything remains unclear. The result is the desire to see how the author will succeed in closing all the narrative arcs in the fifth and much awaited final volume.

The manga Versailles of the dead remains an atypical work, visually superb, based on a rather zany and assumed concept. Scenario reserves exist without however completely spoiling the pleasure of reading. The discovery of the last volume will allow this series to be fully judged.

#3 Présentation » Tokyo Shinobi Squad 1st volume review: a pleasant first volume » 2021-09-25 15:03:50

The Kazé editions invite us to discover Tokyo Shinobi Squad, short series in 3 volumes of two mangakas from Weekly Shonen Jump: Yuki Tanaka, Kento Matsuura. As a reminder, the Weekly Shonen Jump or Jump is an institution in Japan, a real incubator of talents and series that have become cult. This magazine has a unique function. It pre-publishes the first chapters of new series every week and analyzes the reactions of its readers. A series lacking in popularity will quickly disappear, after 6 months or even sooner. This is what happened to Toyko Shinobi Squadwhose editorial career in Jump came to an end. We would like to thank the Kazé editions for taking the risk of publishing the three volumes in French. After reading the 1 st , despite reservations about the content, the choice of the French publisher remains very consistent.

Tokyo Shinobi Squad : big trouble in neo Tokyo
2029 the Japanese government launches the “Galapagos” reform. The country opens up completely by connecting to the global hyperloop network. Inside, Japanese standards fade away in favor of the rules of hypermondialization. 20 years later, the report is bitter. The country is the prey of gangs. Endogenous and exogenous violence plagues the streets while political power sinks into disavowal. Symbol of this fall, Tokyo bears the inglorious title of “the most dangerous city in the world”.

In this urban chaos, the shinobi reappeared. Some serve crime, others put their talents at the service of justice. This is the case with Jin and his “Narumi” clan who roam the streets at night. During one of his missions, he comes to the aid of Enh, a young Thai boy with a valuable scroll. Jin decides to take him under his wing and integrate him into his clan because the young refugee has a much sought-after talent: his ability to memorize everything in a short time. Here he is, a full member of the team as missions follow one another against the most dangerous criminals and the most devious of misguided shinobi.

A story at the crossroads of genres
This first volume lays the foundations for a mood manga. Indeed, the authors are inspired by the codes, the narration specific to American comics. Tokyo 2049 is Gotham City, a dark city despite the neon lights, a cursed city on the verge of collapse. This opus sets up a very original atmosphere: a heaviness, a disillusion. Two worlds can be observed: that of the day when the appearances of serenity seem to be preserved; that of the night when the metropolis is delivered to the forces of darkness.

This atmosphere is coupled with a western side. The series is indeed eyeing both Cowboy Bebop and the films of Sergio Leone. The Narumi clan works as bounty hunters, mercenaries or bodyguards like the Bebop team. What differentiates them from the shadow clans is their code of honor, which they respect like the cowboy bebop heroes. This parallel with Watanabe's series is also found in the characterization of the characters: Jin the daredevil looks like Spike, the sensual Papillon evokes Faye Valentine. And as with Sergio Leone, the heroes have an easy answer, play with cynicism and do not shy away from violence.

The story finally combines two other influences: ninjas and the City Hunter spirit . Indeed, we are facing ninjas who wield the sword well, the shurikens but also special abilities (electricity, cold). This further accentuates the link with comics. The author thus borrows the format of City Hunter, with a procedural plot. The narration of this introductory volume in fact presents us with successive missions in the heart of the metropolis (recovering industrial secrets, protecting models). These seemingly unrelated adventures are resolved in a few chapters. A choice that fits well with the construction of the story but which may explain the fate of this series.

Tokyo Shinobi Squad of e action and immersion in Japan fears
Show enthusiasts will be delighted by this first volume. Indeed, the drawings are a real added value. Very appreciable indeed are the plates describing this neo-Tokyo with Gothamian verticality. Likewise, the artists took a neo-futuristic approach to Tokyo: cutting-edge technologies but no flying cars or floating houses. This reinforces the immersion in the story when the reader recognizes typical districts of Tokyo plunged into decay.

The fights effectively punctuate T okyo Shinobi Squad from the first to the last square. The manga is based on very well drawn, dynamic scenes, alternating wide shots and close-ups. The mix between ancestral techniques and "abilities" works wonderfully. The same fight transports you to Ghost of Tsushima and then to Naruto . The antagonists are also quickly building up which bodes well for epic head-to-head futures.

One of the interesting elements of this story is its social subtext. If the explanation of political chaos is done in a few boxes and is much too fast or even frustrating, elements arranged in the narration enrich the speech. The story is based on fears rooted in the Japanese unconscious: the fear of dissolving in globalization, the question of immigration and decline. The manga also addresses in this introduction the theme of interbreeding and its irruption in Japanese culture. We finally find the fear of the disappearance of Japan imagined here in the form of this urban chaos.

Tokyo Shinobi squad  : a manga that arrives too late
An impression emerges at the end of the first act of the series; that of a story that lacks a little something. The universe on the one hand does not mark the reader enough. The elements are there, however: social discourse, the atmosphere, the mystique. But the authors do not deepen enough the intrigue, the societal explanation or even the origin of the powers.
The series also suffers from one of its qualities. She borrows from many registers and ultimately doesn't quite know what she is. She defines herself as a shonen who explores darker paths while remaining cool and funny. And the division of the narration into successive missions struggles to set a clearly assumed and defined tone.

We can also say that this series suffers from its themes, interesting but very present in the current world of manga. Discovery of power, underground crime, integration of a clan, ninja. These ideas are already at the heart of the intrigues of Naruto, My Hero Academia or Mission Yozakura family . Tokyo Shinobi squad therefore faces strong competition and does not yet manage to show its difference. This may explain its stop in Japan: it deals just well with ideas that its competitors have transcended.

At the end of this first volume, we have to recognize that we have the right to an honest work carried by very beautiful drawings and a desire to cross multiple genres. This introduction bodes well for a pleasant series if it is not original in its script. Tokyo Shinobi Squad would have known a different fate if it had been out at another time.

#4 Présentation » Review "I want to eat your Pancreas" by Yoru SUMINO: An unconditional » 2021-09-16 08:07:20

Yoru Sumino is a Japanese screenwriter who became known thanks to his work:  I want to eat your pancreas. A successful novel, he made the adaptation into a manga, edited by Pika Edition. The reception being always enthusiastic, his novel was entitled to an animated film adaptation available on the Netflix platform.

Her manga is a story that brings joy to life through the character of Sakura, a sociable girl, playful and adored by her comrades. Unlike Sakura, Haruki is a reserved character that no one really cares about. An unusual situation that suits him perfectly. Over the course of the story, an extraordinary friendship develops between our two protagonists.

Synopsis

- I saw a show yesterday on TV.

In the old days when people suffered from a disease affecting a certain organ,

they ate the corresponding organ in an animal.

If they had liver disease,

they ate the liver… If it was the stomach, they ate the stomach…

- So what ?

- They considered it a treatment… That's why…

I WANT TO EAT YOUR PANCREAS!

A budding friendship
While our two young main characters were in the same class, they remained complete strangers until the day Haruki discovered Sakura's disease. Even though her illness is fatal, Sakura keeps smiling and enjoys life while she can.

When they meet, Sakura nicknames Haruki "Mr. Transparent", a name characterizing him very well. At this point, Haruki is far from imagining the events that will follow and the hardships he will have to endure. Haruki is now the only one to know of the existence of Sakura's disease, except for his parents.

The screenwriter gives us a calm, relaxing and gentle image of his work. We will quickly understand, thanks to Sakura, that every moment of life is important and that we must make the most of it. Because we do not know when death will come to interrupt the cycle of life. The heroine will carry in her good humor Haruki who did not ask for much. His outlook on life will quickly change along with those of the readers.

Happy days
Sakura takes advantage of every moment that life offers her. She has devised a list of things to do before dying, taking Haruki wherever she wishes to go.

When they both travel, our two protagonists find themselves in a hotel to play "truth or dare". While Sakura's questions are fairly straightforward like "what's the cutest girl in the class", Haruki is curious and tries to learn more about Sakura, how she was when she was young, etc. . Even though Sakura seems happy to be alive, she admits that she is finally terrified of dying. A moving and unexpected revelation.

A character gets in the way of their friendship, Kyoko, Sakura's best friend. Kyoko is a person with her character but who has a good background. She worries about Sakura regularly and is afraid that Haruki will replace her.

The death of Sakura is announced by the media. She was assaulted and killed in the street. An unexpected and tragic end that affects readers. A last message sent before the drama: "I want to eat your pancreas".

Yoru SUMINO makes you feel sadness in each of the characters who rubbed shoulders with young Sakura. A moving letter is addressed to Haruki at the end of her diary, explaining that at times she felt more than friendship towards him. With all of these events, Kyoko and Haruki end up getting along well, putting aside their resentment.

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas evokes the meaning of life, from the perspective of a teenage girl with serious illness with the goal of changing our view of the world. If you want to continue reading, I invite you to discover A Silent Voice.

#5 Présentation » Lupine III: the first movie review. The inheritance assumed » 2021-09-13 11:42:45

The character of Arsène Lupine has had a fascinating fictional life. Appeared in 1905 in the magazine Je sais tout , it is the fruit of the fertile imagination of Maurice Leblanc. This Norman hero was the delight of publishers until 1941, date of the death of its creator and the end of the series of books. He will then begin a second editorial career in Japan when the manga artist Monkey Punch creates Lupine III (alias Edgar de la cambriole in French) grandson of the great burglar. The paper success attracted the attention of Japanese television stations, which produced between 1971 and today no less than seven series and 30 television films.

The arrival of the series on the big screen is not long with a 1 st feature film in 1978. A first apotheosis comes in 1979 with the release of Castle of Cagliostro directed by the great Hayao Miyazaki (who had previously worked in the first half of the first series). Like a phoenix, the prince of burglars has stood the test of time with nearly ten feature films produced since. Illustration with the release of the last film of 2019, a daring, generous and pleasant modernization of the character.

Lupine III: the first and the adventurers of the lost journal
During the 1960s, Lupine and his acolytes Goemon and Jigen traveled to Paris to steal Bresson's diary. This room contains the secret work of an archaeologist who was killed by the Nazis for refusing to collaborate with them. Between the pages nestles the location of the eclipse, a powerful artifact. Obviously, the object arouses many desires. First, that of Fujiko, an expert thieves, competitor and sometimes partner of Lupin. That of Laetitia, then, a young student who is fascinated by Bresson. And also, that of Inspector Zénigata from Interpol, still on Lupine's footsteps. Finally, that of former Nazis determined to restore the Reich.

Lupine then finds himself embroiled in a story much more complex than a simple treasure hunt. He quickly discovers that his ancestor is intimately linked to this diary and that the young and pretty Laetitia is hiding a dark secret. Faced with difficult choices, not knowing who to believe, the cunning burglar relies on his fearlessness and his team to break the secret of the diary.

Lupine III: the first. A perfect technical demonstration
Thanks to Eurozoom for allowing us to admire this new iteration of the character. Because Takashi Yamazaki, the director of the feature film, a master in 3D computer graphics, has decided to give the series a facelift. All his film is made in 3D synthetic images. A daring bet, risky but brilliantly taken up. His work will dazzle you from the first seconds: elasticity of the characters, textures, sets. Everything exudes technical mastery. The visual effects teams deliver a work without false notes. Urban scenes, interiors, chases form the setting in which Lupin's colorful universe unfolds.

Because, in addition to the beauty of the sets, the film responds perfectly to the other requirement of this universe: dynamism. The Lupine III spirit is adventure without limits. Chases, exotic landscapes, permanent action, twirling fights. The film of barely 1 hour 30 goes quickly, transports us on land, on sea, on different continents. The animation must follow and does it perfectly. Everything is fluid, readable, nervous, colorful. Whether for urban scenes, aerial combat or barehanded confrontation scenes. The film does not lose its energy.

We even admire the director's ability to perfectly manage the different tones: action, comedy, drama. The work on the faces is so familiar to perfection as we can identify their characters from the first glance: Fukijo the extravagant opportunist, Goemon the stuck samurai, Jigen carries him disillusioned gun. The whole forms a production of very high quality allowing to enter full foot in history.

An uninhibited pulp story
If the film goes so well, so quickly, it is because it is based on a terribly endearing atmosphere. This Lupine III feeds on multiple references from popular culture that have been fully assimilated. Indeed, the multiple story first of all winks at Indiana Jones. Nazi antagonist archaeologist, a secret base, while the cocktail of the 1 st film in the saga is taken to give an epic. The 3 rdopus is moreover almost entirely quoted through the tests to reach the eclipse. A visible loan but which goes well. Let us also underline the role of music. The sometimes jazzy, sometimes distressing, sometimes nostalgic composition ideally accompanies this archaeological quest a bit like that of John Williams in The Cursed Temple .

The film is also inspired by a second popular figure: Tintin. On the one hand, the universe of the character of Hergé nourishes the impression of permanent adventure. As in the best adventures of the intrepid reporter, you will witness aerial stunts, incredible rescues, twists and turns. Tintin's influence is also found in the construction of emotion. This is based on the relationship between Lupine and his team. A family that does not say its name, as in its time Tintin and its adventure partners. The sweet and funny household scenes, the constant complicity underline the strength of their links.

The film also likes to use the figure of James Bond. He portrays us a Lupine worthy of Agent 007: effective in combat, charmer, endowed with unpredictable gadgets. He is always one step ahead. With in addition a dose of humor sometimes daring (the photograph of Hitler!), The art of the good word in the pure spirit of pulp. Moreover, at times one wonders if the director has not also seen OSS 117 by Michel Hazanavicius as he makes fun of the Nazis without limits. Takashi Yamazaki thus builds a solid narrative supported by a protean hero, modern at the crossroads of archetypes.

Lupine III: the first . A film too short
Generous, funny, beautiful, the qualities of this feature film are not lacking. However, at the end of the viewing he lacks something to come and equal Myazaki's film. We can first underline a small flaw in the narration: the “deus ex machina”. If this is an integral part of the Lupine spirit, some rescues are a bit forced and should have been brought more subtly.

We can also regret that the plot focuses on its main plot and leaves out important secondary elements: the role of Lupin's ancestor, how the newspaper was lost for so long, how Interpol was he had knowledge of the maneuvers of the neo-Nazis? The story opens many doors on Lupin's ancestor and leaves unanswered questions: did he survive the riddles, why did he leave… Questions that may serve as the basis for another film ..

However, these remarks are not enough to tarnish a more than positive overall impression. Lupine III The first has a charm, an energy, a mastery that gives hope for a bright future for the franchise.

#6 Présentation » Review of "Bloom into you" by Nakatani: a journey, direction love! » 2021-09-10 16:55:34

Bloom into you revolves around Yû, a young girl dreaming of a beautiful love story. When a boy makes a statement to her, she feels no emotion and ends up declining his request. It is then Tôko, the perfect girl of the high school, member of the office of the pupils who confides to him this confidence: "I feel that I could fall in love with you". It is the first time that Tôko confesses his feelings even if she received no positive response from Yu.

At the heart of love
In this manga, although we will follow the story of Yû and Tôko, we will vaguely follow the stories of Yû's friends. It will be noted that the subject of love occupies a large part of the thoughts of young adolescents, girls and boys alike.

In this manga, we will learn the notion of love as well as the point of view of each of the characters present. For Tôko, love comes down to finding a person who will make her unique. A person to whom she can dare to show who she really is and thus leave behind the face of the perfect girl.

We will see the evolution of our two characters over the course of the manga. We are made to believe at the beginning that our two main characters resemble each other on the sentimental level but it remains quite ambiguous thereafter.

While Yu still wonders about his feelings, Tôko does his best to conquer his beloved. Equally interesting is Yû's way of perceiving love. She would like her heart to choose rather than reason or pity.

A forbidden love ?
Throughout this yuri, the homophobic remarks of certain people mark the spirits. On the one hand, we have Yu's father, who categorically refuses the fact that his daughter has a relationship with another girl.

On the other hand, these are students who wonder if the perfect high school girl really is. When the students meet Tôko with another girl, they drop words like "who do you think is man?" ". We quickly understand that homosexuality is not something trivial and is criticized as much by high school students as by adults.

Beyond love, Bloom into you offers us an excellent scenario. We learn a lot about Tôko's past. She is a character who continues to reveal herself over time, which strengthens our attachment to her.

An important figure that should not be forgotten is Sayaka, the vice-president of the student office. From the start, we feel his jealousy towards Yu take an important place. Marked by a difficult break with a girl, Sayaka hoped to find comfort in the heart of Tôko, the president. Unfortunately, not everything is going the way she wanted it to. Thus is born his grudge against little Yû.

In the end, the more we advance in the manga, the more we realize that homosexuality is much more present. Some people dare to show themselves while others hide, for fear of facing the gaze of others.

#7 Présentation » Keiji at Mangetsu makes Japanese history bleed » 2021-09-09 04:50:22

Through the first two volumes of Keiji, Mangetsu proposes to find the designer of the famous and bloody story Ken the survivor (Hokuto no Ken) but in the register of historical manga. Has Tetsuo Hana lost his bite by diving into the past?

At the birth of the samurai
Keiji happening in Japan of the XVI th century and tells us the life of the greatest kabuki-mono. These flamboyant warriors loved to don outfits far removed from the austerity that prevailed during those dark times. It is the one who will show his fortune the most through his outfits or during parties in geisha inns. With the same publisher, Chiruranrecounts the last outbursts of this warrior caste as Keiji shows this group in full power. Keiji is a horseman who fully participates in the war between rival lords. Maps and short texts before the chapters help the reader not to get lost in the different clans. In addition, the series begins with duels to present this society of warriors and its codes so particular before switching to major battles at the end of the first volume. We discover court intrigues but above all an often haughty caste with the peasants. Very susceptible to honor, these warriors fight and jealousy, including between soldiers from the same camp.

Tetsuo Hara is made for this story. True to his style, the designer multiplies the details in each box and does not hesitate to be excessive in the expressions of the characters. He also knows how to adapt to the times by transcribing the flamboyance of the armor where feathers are added to the many decorations. Even in black and white, the reader sees the opulence of the lords' interiors. To properly describe this period, the designer called on Keiichirô Ryû. Alas, very old, the screenwriter could only realize the first chapter before being replaced by Mio Asô.

A wild story
The hero of this series, Keiji Maeda, works for the Takigawa clan. He is one of the leaders of the seigneurial army, but he is a rebel. Rather than training, he organizes dog fights with the pets of his masters. He even refuses a mission. To illustrate this attitude, Tetsuo Hara spurts the blood from the first chapter. The sabers go through the heads and cut the bodies into slices. It highlights these muscular bodies but covered with scars in a very homoerotic atmosphere.

We find exuberance in Tetsuo Hara's representation of violence. Indeed, it does not have a clean style but fiery like the violence of the time. However, reading is not made for the youngest with quite gory scenes. A little girl cuts and collects ears for her master. Nature is also wild because a black horse escapes hunters by exploding their heads with its hooves.

Keiji's servant looks like a demon and shows that one leaves historical realism to approach the fantastic. Ninjas disappear in the mist or hide in impossible disguises. The drawing is not more realistic by impossible fights between giant adversaries.

The biography of an (anti-) hero
Keiji is not a hagiography because this warrior is not a saint. Arrogant, he does not listen to any advice when deciding to train a horse feared by everyone. A general kept the mark of a previous attempt on the face but Keiji will have the patience to be loved by this devil stallion. Indeed, the kabuki-mono is also a great charmer whose magnetism attracts animals but especially women and men. He is also a thief when he needs something. By his crazy outfits, he is very close to a glam rock singer. Further on, a clever visual camouflage conceals a tactic that is shocking to say the least to other fighters but adds grotesque humor to the series. A group of secondary characters gradually builds up around him and follows him in his many adventures:

With Keiji, the reader follows the fighting in a country in civil war dominated by warriors. This series is therefore much more than the biography of a flamboyant warrior because it offers a gallery of characters, each more original than the next. Also with The Mandala of Fire , Mangetsu launches deep into historical manga as the reader will soon have the chance to step into the world of women with an upcoming series on geishas.

#8 Présentation » The staircase island A first poetic tome! » 2021-09-09 04:32:59

Discover  the Isle of Stairs , one of the latest series offered by the Delcourt / Tonkam editions . A shonen signed Kono Yutaka and Uzuki Ai.

Staircase Island is a three-volume shonen. The first volume was released on June 16 in France. This work adapts the eponymous novel also signed by Kono Yutaka .
“It is said that at the top of the steps from which this island takes its name lives a witch, and that anyone who longs to leave this place must absolutely find… what they may have lost when they got there. I don't know what it is. But I do know one thing. It's because when MANABE, a girl with a determined look, landed here, I had the feeling that nothing would ever be the same again… ”

The staircase island was a favorite series, let's face it. From the start, whether by its cover or by its synopsis, we were immediately intrigued.

The cover of this first volume is really very pleasant to discover, the background plays on a color gradient and the character in the foreground is very intriguing.

And the scenario is not to be outdone, we guarantee it. Indeed, the author plunges you into a universe where the characters appear overnight on an unknown island, where they are housed, fed and laundered. In addition, legend has it that a witch would live at the top of the staircase that gave the island its name. However, no one managed to climb to the top… Why? However, it would not be impossible to leave this island. Indeed, to return to the real world, it would "suffice" to find what one has lost. Not always easy when you know that our teenagers have forgotten what they were doing before disappearing.

"Rejected? By who ? What does it mean ?
I do not know. But that's what we say when we find ourselves rejected by the one we love, or by society itself. "
Many questions then arise. Why did our characters end up on this island? What do they need to find to leave? Who is this mysterious witch? So many questions to which we look forward to discovering the answers in the next two volumes.

In addition, the atmosphere is soft and transports us to a world that seems to be pleasant. Despite the characters being stuck on an island, they still don't seem unhappy. Indeed, they have access to education, they can move around as they see fit (on the island in any case) and they do not seem to lack resources either. Some scenes are poetic, others full of emotion or even full of suspense. You can go through several emotional stages as you read. This makes the scenario even more attractive and makes you want to find out what happens next!

On the character side, the author focuses on three teenagers in particular, Manabe, Nanakusa and Sasaoka. We start by following the daily life of Nanakusa and Sasaoka in their school and at home. So far, nothing extraordinary. However, that will all change when Manabe lands on the island. Indeed, unlike our two boys, Manabe has only one desire, to run away from the island! This irrepressible urge will then raise new questions. Why does Nanakusa want to stay on the island? Will he help her leave regardless of the consequences?

One of the strong points in this first volume is that the point of view of our three protagonists has been approached. Indeed, we can follow each of the three characters over the pages and see what they think or feel. This adds a very pleasant dimension to a volume which already offers us a quality story.

The design is also very interesting. Indeed, the graphics are very pleasant to discover, the pencil stroke is fine and offers us details allowing us to discover with pleasure the emotions of the characters. This accentuates the soft atmosphere in which we are bathed from the first huts.

For those who would like to experience the story in another form, a film adapting the script is also available, Go Away, Ultramarine .

The staircase island is a series that we strongly encourage you to discover. Whether by its stroke of a pencil or by its script, it is a work of quality that has convinced us from the first pages. While waiting for the release of the second volume, discover My life in prison , the beautiful auto-biographical story of Kim Hong-Mo.

#9 Présentation » Yaoi Minute # 5: Meet in Udagawachou » 2021-09-08 17:20:57

Rendezvous in Udagawachou is the second manga by the prolific and talented Hideyoshico. Published in 2016 by Boy's Love editions, it offers us to read the budding love story between two clumsy but passionate teenagers.

The story
Keigo Momose is a lonely high school student. An introvert, his imposing physique and his deep voice impress his comrades. This situation suits him very well, however, because Momose is not the type to take an interest in other people's affairs… Until he crosses paths with a young transvestite in the lively district of Shibuya! For him, no doubt, it is his classmate, Tomoya Yashiro! But why is this popular and bright boy dressed as a girl? Is he homosexual? Is it really him ?! Assailed with questions, Momose can no longer take his eyes off Yashiro… And he is determined to find out the truth!

The mirror of appearances
Hideyoshico has been positioned since his beginnings as the champion of originality in the world of Yaoi. His stories are always touching and at odds with certain more "easy" or classic stories that abound in specialized catalogs. With Rendez-vous à Udagawachou ( Udagawachô by mattete yo in original version), she clearly stands out as a figure to follow.

Rendez-vous à Udagawachou is a love story between two high school students, one loving to disguise himself as a woman and the other taciturn. But it is also much more than that. Far from using cross-dressing as a fetish, the mangaka offers us an extremely touching portrait of lively flayed boys. While the mystery remains as to why Yashiro likes to dress in women's clothes, this characteristic is an integral part of his personality, if not his identity. He does not feel like a woman, nor particularly attracted to men, but his whole being is not complete until he dresses in his most beautiful feminine clothes.

Momose, meanwhile, experiences the loneliness he lives in rather than seeking it. Social relations are a source of difficulties for him. And it is not on his sister that he can count to explain them to her, their links being more than stormy! His own classmates ignore a lot of things about him. Sheltered behind his headphones and long hair, Momose appears to be shielding himself from an unknown danger.

Yet here he is irresistibly intrigued by Yashiro. The shock of having surprised him dressed as an overwhelmed woman, Momose will not stop wondering, day and night. A dull worry surged in his heart: what if Yashiro was the victim of a bet? Blackmail? What if we forced him to prostitute himself? In his extremely clumsy way, he starts to observe Yashiro continuously, until he frightens him. Unknown feelings assail him, and he has no idea how to deal with them!

Escape me and I will follow you
A very moving waltz then begins between the two boys. While Yashiro is worried that Momose will reveal his secret, he also discovers through her gaze that he can be loved as he really is. But for much of the story, the young man refuses to accept his feelings. The fear of the gaze of others, the shame and disgust that sometimes overwhelms him, all those years in hiding cannot be erased so easily. The more so as Momose is not extremely reassuring in his way of being, often impulsive and abrupt.

Hideyoshico perfectly stages the hesitations of the two heroes, the moments of rupture and those where a bond takes hold. Their relationship is built step by step, sometimes backtracking, as Yashiro and Momose slowly get to know and trust each other. She demonstrates in a masterly way that love is not a question of gender or sexual orientation but a deep attachment to another human person that we accept in its totality.

Finally, the sublime graphics are a major asset of this reading. Hideyoshico's angular and recognizable line conveys both the fragility of the bodies and the power of the characters' emotions. The exchanges of glances make unnecessary any superfluous dialogue, while the division of the boxes creates a cinematographic atmosphere, very close to the characters, allowing the reader to easily identify with them. The flashy colors of the cover and the first pages catch the eye and pay homage to this powerful and resolutely positive work.

In conclusion, Rendez-vous à Udagawachou is a manga that transcends the Yaoi genre to deliver a universal love story. Beyond appearances, it is the relationship between two beings who love each other for who they are that Hideyoshico tells us. Its accuracy and sensitivity make this manga essential and likely to give hope even to the worst misanthropists! And if you still have some room left, don't hesitate to take a look at the previous Yaoi minutes !

#10 Présentation » Higher than the sky T01: Immerse yourself in post-war Japan! » 2021-09-07 18:49:07

After discovering a Tokyo red light district through Roppongi's Cop , this time we invite you to discover post-war Japan ravaged by flames in Higher Than Heaven .

Higher Than Heaven is a three-volume series by Ishikawa Saburo. Published between 2017 and 2018 in France by Black Box Edition , the series has been available since 1995 in Japan.

“March 10, 1945. Tokyo is bombed by the US military. The air raid which decided the defeat of Japan left between eighty and one hundred thousand dead. The city is completely destroyed by explosions and fires. The vast blue sky contrasts with the rubble. The survivors wander among the ruins. Immerse yourself in this romantic story that follows the lives of eight orphans in the post-war turmoil. "

A post-war Japan!

Higher than the sky takes us to a Japan in the grip of despair, famine and epidemics. Indeed, the story begins on March 10, 1945, when the city of Tokyo was bombed. We then follow eight orphans who will do anything to survive.

The author plunges us into the atmosphere of the series from the first pages since we discover with horror the chaos of the bombardment. We discover one of our orphans fleeing the bombing with his mother. Unfortunately, the latter sacrifices herself to save her son. The representation of this scene is particularly touching. Indeed, the graphics plunge us into this district of Tokyo ravaged by flames and the reactions of the characters gave us, we must admit, goosebumps.

From the start, the author plays with your emotions and encourages you to discover the complicated daily life of the survivors. However, many series talking about this period are on a rather "sad" register. However, in Higher than the sky , it is not at all the first emotion. Indeed, the manga is rather focused on happiness and the positive. It's quite astonishing given the dark times in which we are immersed. We remind you, thousands of deaths are to be deplored, famines and epidemics are also part of the game. But in this first volume, we follow orphans who arrive at all costs to survive and take advantage of the little pleasures available to them. It makes you think, we assure you.

We do not yet know how the next two volumes will evolve, but the introduction of new characters just as interesting as those already present seem to announce twists, action and emotion.

All the “thugs” that we follow are therefore orphans. In their adventures, they will meet a young mother and her daughter who, like them, are in misery. Throughout their adventures, our orphans will do everything possible to help this family get out of it, so that it does not spend the winter in the cold and sinister undergrounds of Tokyo.

Our thugs call this woman "The mother" and the latter's daughter calls our vagabonds "big brothers". Despite the hell of the situation, the orphans have not lost their humanity and are doing everything possible to save a child who still has his mother. This humanity is very appreciable and we hope that their future will be brighter.

In addition, we must admit that our characters are very endearing. Whether by their situation (loss of their family) or by their personality, following the adventures of our eight vagabonds is a real pleasure. Indeed, the author gave them a nickname in connection with their old life or their personality (as for Nico who smokes cigarettes, "nicotine"). These little details help make these characters attractive and unique. In addition, as and when their adventures, we discover a little more their character or their talents.

However, some characters seem to have a past to shy away from, outside of the bombing. This adds a new dimension to the series and makes it all the more intriguing.

Historical references!
One of the strengths of this first volume is that the author mixes both story and historical facts. Indeed, Ishikawa Saburo guides us in time with historical landmarks. Precise dates are cited and allow the reader to discover Japanese history and to situate himself in an era in full change. For example, a very important date is given at the beginning of the volume, August 15, 1945, the date on which Japan surrenders unconditionally to the Allied forces.

However, unlike certain very precise historical series, which drown the reader under a flood of information, the author of Higher than the sky knew how to gauge the important information and gives only what is necessary to understand and enjoy the story.

Plus haut que le ciel volume 1 is a quality work that will immerse you in a story mixing action, emotion and historical facts. This first volume has everything you need to please you, a quality storyline, successful graphics and endearing characters. We can not advise you too much to discover this series as soon as possible.

#12 Présentation » Theory: Avengers Mission in New Phase Is Hunting for Dangerous Weapons » 2021-09-05 17:23:29

engela
Réponses : 0

From the Shang-Chi film  ,  there are several theories that we discuss regarding the Avengers in the latest phase after  Endgame .

Indeed, there is a little Avengers role in this film which has a slightly different feel to the previous one.

What is it like? Let's discuss.

1. There is a connection with the Avengers in the Shang-Chi movie , although it's not dominant

In  Shang-Chi's post credits , Captain Marvel and Hulk or Bruce Banner appear with Wong who is clearly part of the Avengers.

They discussed about the 10 ring weapon previously owned by The Mandarin, especially its origins.

In the end they did not find the origin or history of the weapon which is believed to be a thousand years old.

2. This means the Avengers are also eyeing the 10 ring weapon

Since Wong is actively involved in getting the 10 ring weapon plus Captain Marvel and the Hulk are also discussing it, then the weapon seems to be the target of the new Avengers.

Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers also analyzed the weapon to find out the origin and purpose of the weapon's creation.

This means the Avengers may have a primary or secondary goal of finding dangerous weapons in the galaxy.

3. The possibility of this mission being an anticipation of events similar to the Infinity Gauntlet and the Stones

In the case of Thanos, the Avengers are still unfamiliar with potentially dangerous weapons, they are not even that serious about keeping the stones that were in their hands.

Finally, the Thanos case that endangers not only Earth but also a galaxy, of course this is a valuable lesson for the Avengers.

Based on the moment Captain Marvel and Hulk in  Shang-Chi  analyze the 10 ring weapons, it could be that the Avengers' goal now is to secure weapons that have the potential to be dangerous in the wrong hands, so that the Thanos case doesn't happen again.

So if you think this is the new Avengers mission in the current phase? Write your opinion in the comments column, yes.

#13 Présentation » 5 Movie Recommendations to Carefully Choose Your Partner » 2021-09-05 09:43:53

Just met you dear? Who knows he doesn't fit the criteria. Take heed of this movie recommendation!

Are you a person who likes to find love through the internet? Pandemic conditions like this are certainly increasing the quantity of people to find a mate via the internet. For example, a  dating app that can bring them together with guys or girls around them.

However, when you just meet someone on the internet, you have to be extra careful, because you don't know if they are telling the truth or not.

Of course, women are no stranger to cases of men committing fraud on various dating apps by using the appendage of a Zurich University graduate to make many girls want to have sex with him. Yep, this scam known as the “aliskamugemash” scam has harmed many girls, both sexually and materially.

Well, there are several recommended films that you can watch to be more aware of the identity of the person you are going to partner with. Before the yellow leaves curl, it's a good idea to check first! Come on, watch these films!

Recommended Movies to Choose Your Partner Carefully
1. Catch Me if You Can (2002)

The Frank Abagnale scam is one of the greatest scams in history. Based on a true story, this film tells the story of Abagnale's fraud before he was finally recruited by the FBI because of his intelligence.

Thanks to his good communication, high self-confidence, and a pretty handsome face, it is Abagnale who can deceive many people. He can lie about his status as a doctor, lawyer, even as a pilot until he can fly an airplane.

Very scary, right? In one scene, it is seen that Abagnale approaches Brenda Strong, a nurse who is the daughter of a rich man, pretending to be a doctor. This makes the woman's parents believe that she will even organize a wedding for her. Even though she knew he was a cheater, she still loved him.

If you've seen the red flags of the man you love, put aside love and loyalty.

2. The Other Woman (2014)

Feeling considered special by a man who looks perfect? Feel that he can balance your perfection? Hmm , watch out, is he that perfect?

Carly, a career woman with a high position, feels her life is perfect after meeting Mark. Besides being handsome, Mark also looks successful. Carly felt Mark perfected it. However, who would have thought that suddenly a woman who claimed to be Mark's wife came? Turns out, Mark also commits fraud in his job so that he can make money.

Not quite there, apparently Mark has another girlfriend – a young woman in her 20s! The three of them finally work together to take revenge on Mark so that he gives up acting as he likes.

Well, again, the perfect human figure doesn't exist. Don't be consumed by "perfection", yes! Must be careful and use your intelligence to detect new partners.

3. Wedding Agreement (2019)

Is there a guy who wants to be serious with you? Hmm , even though he looks fine, stay alert! In fact, there are often stories of marriage fraud as happened in the film Indonesia Wedding Agreement.

Feeling that Bian is a serious guy and also capable of being a good husband, Tari immediately accepts the proposal of the man who was betrothed to her. Who would have thought that behind the marriage, Bian had already prepared a contract marriage agreement which was only valid for one year.

This happened because Bian loved his ex, Sarah, and only used Tari as a tool to please his mother. In her marriage, Bian acts coldly, destroys the spirit and life of Tari, a woman who was previously a strong, independent woman, and has a good career as an entrepreneur.

Besides being mean to Tari, Bian is also mean to Sarah, for "forcing" Sarah to wait for him for up to a year. Although the ending of this film is good for Bian, Sarah, and Tari, there are many annoying things that happen. For example, Tari's indecisiveness towards her own life makes her tormented and is often considered disobedient to her husband.

In addition, Sarah is also too busy to be told to wait for Bian. Bian too, as a man, is also very selfish and irresponsible. Sure, marriage can be sakinah mawadah warahmah with liars like this?

4. The Con-Heartist (2020)

From Thailand, there is also a film that flicks girls who are too busy, the title is The Con-Heartist. Behind every stomach-churning scene, there's a big lesson to be learned: don't sacrifice too much for a suspicious guy you don't recognize!

The Con-Heartist opens with the story of Ina, a worker at a credit office, who tells of her huge debt due to being cheated by her ex-boyfriend. His ex pretends he can't go to college, and Ina innocently takes down a big loan. Investigate a calibaration, the ex, Petch, did live by lying to women and became a rich woman's mistress.

Out of heartache, Ina asks Tower for help, a swindler who initially tried to trick her with prizes – but failed –. This film tells how the two of them make a cunning trick to return Ina's money and make Petch give up on what he did.

5. Good on Paper (2021)

The film Good on Paper is really fun to watch because the story is fresh, spiced with stand-up comedy, and has a very good moral message.

Good on Paper tells the story of Andrea Singer, a comedian who is quite famous, but feels that his career is just like that. She is often jealous of her classmate who is already successful as an actress. He also had problems with his status as single in his 30s.

One day, after failing to attend a casting in a city, Andrea meets a man on a plane on his way back to Los Angeles. The man claimed to be a graduate of Yale University, looked fine, and also had a well-established job in finance.

Although at first she had doubts, Andrea gradually accepted the man and considered him perfect. However, at some point, he felt that this man was a pathological liar. There were so many odd things that after Andrea found out, she was surprised by the facts that were found.

This comedy is a must-see for anyone looking for the perfect man. There is no perfect man in this world, because everyone has flaws. If there is a man who looks too perfect, you must be careful.

***

Well, for those of you who watched this film, don't be trapped by the happy ending offered. Men like Bian are toxic, cruel, heartless liars who must be abandoned as soon as possible. Never expect a liar to change because one day, the disease will "relapse".

Love relationships are originally based on attraction and that's what often makes many people, especially women, blind. However, whatever you like with someone, you still have to think critically so you don't regret it later. Because, if you get stuck too deep, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

I don't know how I will feel when I die. But, at least I don't want to regret the way I live." -Yuuji Itadori.

'Jujutsu Kaisen' is a manga by Gege Akutami published in 2018 in Shueisa's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and has been published in sixteen volumes as of June 2021.

In 2020, the manga was adapted into an anime. The anime itself is produced by MAPPA Studio and has been airing since October 2, 2020 and a total of 24 episodes for the first season . This June, the anime officially premiered on the paid streaming service Netflix.

'Jujutsu Kaisen' tells the story of Yuuji Itadori, a talented high school student, has a strong physique and is suitable for joining the sports club at his school. However, instead of joining a sports club, he joined the occult research club. The reason is, Yuuji just wants to have fun and fill his spare time. In addition, he had a special reason to be able to go home early to care for his old and sick grandmother.

However, one day, one of Yuuji's seniors in the occult research club opens an amulet he found at school. A terrible creature appears and haunts the lives of the members of the occult research club and those closest to them. Then from here Yuuji's life began to change.

Well , if you look at the plot, there are already many anime that have a similar story plot. Well, the shounen genre is mostly not about unique and fresh plots, but rather the action presentation in 'Jujutsu Kaisen' which makes this anime different from anime and manga of similar genres.

The action dish in this anime is really cool. Yuuji's scene when facing the monsters presented from the beginning of the episode looks stunning. The pace of action that fits with the slick visuals makes this anime quite enjoyable to watch. In addition, the visuals of the monsters that look disgusting and scary give a fairly strong supernatural impression.

The minus is the comedy dish which is less exciting. The comedy that is presented tends to be dry and the taste doesn't really matter.

For the soundtrack,  Eve is enlivened with the title 'Kaikai Kitan'. Previously, Eve did have catchy and easy listening songs . Likewise with Ali's ending song, entitled 'Lost in Paradise'. You could say this is the best anime series released in the fall of 2020.

Overall, the anime 'Jujutsu Kaisen' is a solid shounen anime offering with stunning action and a plot that is standard in the shounen genre in general, making it easy to digest for those who want to start as a weasel . But unfortunately, this anime has a comedy that is dry and sometimes not quite right.

#15 Présentation » Anime Review: Aldnoah.Zero 2 » 2021-09-04 03:07:13

After finishing broadcasting the first 12 episodes in mid-2014, starting 2015 the TROYCA studio again presented a continuation of the story of Aldoah.Zero. Ei Aoki (Fate/Zero) returns to direct the second season of this anime series. The Series Composition of this anime series is handled by Katsuhiko Takayama (Baka to Test, Ga-Rei-Zero) and Matsumoto Masako as character designers for the second season of Aldnoah.Zero. The music part of this anime series is still handled by Sawano Hiroyuki, who has experience in arranging music for Gundam UC and the first season of Aldnoah.Zero, but in this second season, singer Aoi Eir also performed the ending theme song with a song called Genesis.

Synopsis
The second season of Aldnoah.Zero begins with the final scene in the battle at the end of the first season, where Slaine Troyard shoots the left eye of Inaho Kaizuka and Count Saazbaum who previously fired a bullet at Vers Asseylum's daughter Allusia.

19 months have passed since the incident, and the conditions for Interplanetary War II, which was triggered by the assassination attempt on Vers's daughter, have become increasingly fierce. After successfully finding Vers' battleship Deucalion, Earth's troops are now able to have a base outside of orbit to repel attacks from the Vers empire based on the Moon. Anticipating battles outside of orbit, Earth has also developed its Kataphrakt technology to match Vers' Kataphrakt equipped with Aldnoah Drive.

In the midst of the fierce battle that took place outside the orbit, the figure of Asseylum's daughter, who had previously been confirmed to have been shot by a bullet, appeared healthy and gave an ultimatum to attack Earth. But behind the ultimatum there is the figure of Slaine Troyard and the sister of Asseylum's daughter, Lemrina who are planning a conspiracy to control Vers and also the Earth troops.

Time for Outer Orbit Battle
Conceptually, the second season of Aldnoah.Zero displays something fresh compared to the first season. If the first season featured a robot battle scene in the middle of the city in the style of the Armored Core game, this second season featured a robot battle scene outside of orbit which is one of the hallmarks of the robot-themed anime series. With the battleship Deucalion as well as Vers' lunar base, this out-of-orbit feud could occur.

Facing the action of robot fighting outside of this orbit, the Kataphrakt belonging to the Earth forces also underwent a change. If in the first season we will meet a small robot unit with minimal equipment, in this second season the Earth's troops are armed with various robots complete with equipment to advance and fight outside orbit. The change in the design of Earth's Kataphrakt unit is a refreshing breakthrough.

By moving the battlefield from the downtown area to the outer orbit, the battle scenes presented are also different. In this second season, the audience will be presented with the action of robots flying in a vacuum by shooting each other. The use of 3D in the depiction of robotic units and asteroid backgrounds in outer space is an added value in terms of action. In addition, the use of camera shifting in various battle scenes results in the fighting animation of this anime series is quite impressive.

The story patterns in this second season seem repetitive, namely the emergence of a new Kataphrakt, the Earth's troops fight, Inaho appears, and all is well. Until about more than half of the season, the story proceeds in such a pattern that it feels boring to follow. With repetitive story patterns, twist elements are usually inserted so that the storyline doesn't feel too boring. Yes, the element of twist is one of the attractions of this anime series.

The first season of Aldnoah.Zero is quite well known for its various twists in the story that make the audience always wonder what will happen in the next episode. As if not wanting to let go of these characteristics, various twists were presented again in the second season. However, unlike the first season, the twist in the second season feels quite forced. Instead of solving the boredom caused by the repetitive storyline, the plotwist execution in the second season is just as repetitive as the storyline. At the beginning of the story, the audience is presented with a twist in the form of Lemrina disguised as Asseylum, then Slaine who becomes the Count, and many other twists that are executed with a plot that is too fast and repetitive so it feels very forced.

Although it offers very different space battle scenes and new things, in fact this anime series does not execute the action portion well. Throughout the 12 episodes of this second season, instead of a robotic battle between the Earth and Mars forces, what feels is drama that surrounds Asseylum's daughter. The drama portion is increasingly felt when Slaine Troyard begins an intrigue to "defect" from the Orbital Knights in order to find a way to bring Princess Asseylum back to her senses.

All submissive before Slaine and Inaho
The second season of the Aldnoah.Zero anime features quite a lot of characters, especially the Orbital Knights with their unique Kataphrakt units. However, due to the portion that was presented more focused on drama, some of the new characters that appeared were only extras in front of Slaine Troyard and Kaizuka Inaho.

Therefore, character development is an important note of this anime series, where even though it displays so many characters, the development that is exposed is felt only in the figures of Inaho and Slaine. From the point of view of the Earth troops, Inaho's figure seems to be "The Only One" because every time there is a battle against the Mars troops, victory is certain if Inaho appears. With the help of the analytical engine embedded in his left eye, Inaho's figure is more dominant than other characters because he has extraordinary abilities, it can even be said that only Inaho is able to shoot the Kataphrakt of the Martian troops with precision.

On Vers's side, there is the figure of Slaine Troyard, who in his first season was not too dominant among the Orbital Knights. However, in this second season, it can be said that the image of the Vers squad only exists in Slaine's figure. Although this second season featured the new Orbital Knights, the various characters were not successfully exposed with the right portion because throughout the story only Slaine and Inaho got a lot of attention.

Conclusion
The second season of an anime series should bring fresh air to the continuity of a series. In its second season, Aldnoah.Zero is able to bring a variety of fresh air such as space battle scenes, the number of new kataphrakt units. However, even though it can bring this new thing well, there are some things that are unfortunate about this anime series, such as the direction of the story that goes more towards individual drama than the Earth-Mars conflict. The end of the second season of Aldnoah.Zero also feels very forced where Vers's daughter chooses her male partner which is not even explained further the background that exists between the two figures. The conflict resolution part where Earth and Mars reconciled also seemed very forced and too rushed.

Shirobako is a new sensation in the anime world. The anime that aired from October 2014 to March 2015 became a breaker in the anime world because it offered something different and had never been tried in a previous TV series, namely telling the behind-the-scenes process of an anime series and the struggles of employees in this creative industry in presenting a show that has power. selling and high aesthetic power. The nature of this anime is so light with the slice of life style that the workmanship shown in this anime can be digested by ordinary people who want to know about the production process of an anime without being patronizing. Shirobako also has its own success story,an another example of unexpected success .

If we examine more deeply Shirobako is not just a story about a group of people who have aspirations in the world of animation and how they achieve those goals, Shirobako also has special relevance in several aspects of the entertainment industry as a whole. This time, KAORI Nusantara will try to examine specifically about Shirobako from several aspects related to the entertainment industry as well as from the human aspect that appears in this anime made by PA Works.

Shirobako Viewed from the Viewer's Appreciation Side of Visual Media
by Halimun Muhammad (Japanese Contemporary Culture Observer)

One of the interesting things about Shirobako is its title which means “white box.” As can be learned from the anime, what is meant by shirobako is the white box containing the final product in the making of the film. But coincidentally, in systems analysis, the term white box is also known. Although the meaning is different from what the title Shirobako implies , the white box concept is still relevant to be discussed in relation to this anime.

In analyzing the system, "black box" ( black box ) is a term used to refer to a system whose working processes are unknown or deliberately ignored. The only thing that matters is the inputs that go into the system and the outputs that come out of it. For example, in International Relations, the orthodox approach treats states as black boxes. What is considered in the analysis is only the output of the country's foreign policy in interacting with other countries. Meanwhile, the political process of policy-making that takes place in the country is not taken into account in the analysis. The opposite of the black box model is called the "white box" ( white box).; also called clear box or open box ), where a system works and the processes that take place in it can be seen and studied.

In watching anime, it is not uncommon for viewers to treat the anime they watch like a black box. Viewers only see and comment on the finished results that appear on the screen. There is less exploration and discussion of the production process and behind-the-scenes events, which require more effort to gather additional information. People who enjoy anime to the point of learning the production process behind the scenes like that are often considered otaku .

In the 1990s, the co-founder of the Gainax studio known as “Otaking,” Toshio Okada, formulated the theory that otaku are people who have a deep appreciation of visual media and other creative works. Okada calls this capability as iki no me (eye iki ), Takumi no me (eye Takumi ), and Tsu no me (eye TSU ). Eyes iki can be said to constitute an aesthetic appreciation of the beauty of a work. Mata takumi can be interpreted as an analysis of the technical aspects of a work and the expertise of the creator of the work. While tsū mata eyes can be interpreted as an investigation of the social aspects of making a work behind the scenes, from recognizing who is involved to knowing the drama that occurs in the process of making a work.

By telling the story of making anime, Shirobako can be said to treat the process of making anime as a white box. The story of Shirobako is fiction and dramatized, but it can still provide an illustration of how the behind-the-scenes anime-making process takes place in the real world. Then, intentional or not, Shirobako has encouraged the audience to see anime as well with the eyes Takumi and especially the eyes TSU. So that anime viewers get to know more about the people involved in making anime, their roles, interactions between them, the obstacles they experience and how they try to overcome them, what they feel during the process of making it to completion, and so on.

Once upon a time, Doma Umaru was a perfect girl at a school. Bright brain, good at sports, fun to hang out with, the best in the whole school.

Although all his advantages dazzle his friends and even gossip that Umaru is the son of a rich conglomerate, they have absolutely no idea what Umaru will look like when he is at home.

Form, both literal and figurative.
We have heard too much of this premise in contemporary anime with the theme of "little sister" since it was popularized by the Ore no Imouto ga Konna Ni Kawaii series Wake Ga Nai (OreImo)  in 2010, but don't move on yet, because Doma Umaru is different monsters .

Himouto! Umaru-chan is a 12-episode anime series made by studio Doga Kobo based on the comic of the same name by Sankaku Head. Duration 23 minutes does not necessarily make a comic that each part contains less than 19 pages that was extended, but more than enough to show the behavior of sableng brother who laziness of not playing. Doma Taihei the brother is also a competent figure, both as an older brother who has to take care of his younger brother's pranks and as a prominent main character.

Against the stereotype of the character “the main character's sister” through the widespread theme of brother-sister incest and faithfulness to the atmosphere presented by the comic, Himouto! Umaru-chan deserves appreciation for her more mature characterization than making the image of this attractive little sister just to satisfy the desires of certain circles. Apart from the comedy, which focuses on the miraculous and laughable behavior of Doma Umaru (nicknamed Ie Umaru in the comic version), the dynamics of the interaction between the Doma siblings also tend to be more straightforward in reflecting the natural closeness of siblings than anime with the same theme.

Continuing the success of his role in the Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun anime series in 2014, Tanaka Aimi as a newcomer voice actor is amazing in giving life to the character Doma Umaru, as well as other voice actors who seem to be replicas of the image of each comic character. they played the shy Ebina Nana, the slebor princess Tachibana Sylphynford, to the fierce-faced inferior Motoba Kirie.

In terms of music itself, it's the same as when Doga Kobo worked on Nozaki-kun. Although there is nothing too special, the arrangement of the background music fits perfectly with the atmosphere of each scene that you want to convey. Especially in episode 8 (titled Umaru and Natal), the effect of this simple but effective approach is very moving.

Thus the author feels that this anime deserves to be called the best cartoon in the summer of 2015 because it was able to climb the popularity ladder with simple elements and not forced on certain circles, as happened to OreImo. This anime series is very worth watching with family and friends who will come. Although this anime has ended, it is possible that there will be another season, given the status of the original comic series that is still continuing. There will even be a comic side story of one of the characters that is no less interesting, namely none other than the neighbor girl Ebina Nana.
